John Greene, V.P. CBC

John Greene is the Vice President of Special projects at Capitol Broadcasting Company In Raleigh. Mr Greene spoke to the combined classes of Mass Media and Society, Professional Development, and Music Industry. Mr. Greene was the first speaker in a series "The Business of Show". The mission of "the Business Of Show" is to expose students to the career opportunities in media, entertainment, and sports industries on the business side. The series is an joint project between NCCU's Mass Communications Program, School of Business, and Music Industry program.


JohnGreene coordinated the move to High Definition Television(HDTV) by the Capitol Broadcasting group. He's a former 'news guy', and is a former news director. He shared how exciting the transitions have been. in television specifically, and media in general, during his tenure with CBC.


The students heard about the history of Capitol Broadcasting and it's relation to the growth and development of the media industry. Greene outlined the big investment CBC made in HDTV, and explain why the new arena is 'New Media'. He encouraged the students to aquire and develop skills take advantage of the changes in the media industry.
